2005 Moscow Military Parade

This is some great footage from the 2005 Moscow Military Parade. Must have been quite a sight. Stars of the event were the Sukhoi Su-27s and the MiG-29s belonging to the Russian Knights air display team and the Strizhi ( Swifts ). Great in cockpit footage showing formation flying and approach to the parade. Best of all is the Big Diamond formation consisting of five Russian Knights Su-27s and four Strizhi MiG-29s.

Russian Knight on his belly

In 1997 at an airshow in Bratislava one member of the Russian Knights aerobatic team forgot to lower the landing gear of his Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker. As a result of this incident, only helicopters were allowed to perform that day. As for the aircraft, there was some damage to the underside but nothing major. The plane took off heading for Russia only two days later. Very solid plane… and beautiful too…

Sukhoi Aerobatics

Impressive video showing 5 time World Aerobatic Champion Svetlana Kapanina throwing her Sukhoi around. You’ll see a lot of the famous aerobatic planes: the Su-26, Su-29 and Su-31. There is also some archive footage taken during the development of the Sukhoi 26 family of aircraft.

Sukhoi Aerobatics

The Sukhoi Su-37 NATO codename Flanker-F is a Russian single-seat, all-weather, fighter and ground attack prototype aircraft, derived from the Su-27 Flanker. It featured new thrust vectoring engines that enabled the aircraft to perform crazy maneuvers such as the “Super Cobra” or the “Kulbit”. Check out these incredible maneuvers performed by the Sukhoi Su-37.

You probably know who Jurgis Kairys is. He is the Lithuanian pilot flew his plane under a bridge while inverted. Here he is, taking off and pulling hard on the stick resulting in a maneuver similar to the one performed by the Sukhoi Su-27 jet: the Cobra.

Jurgis Kayris is a Lithuanian aerobatic pilot and an aircraft engineer. He has won over the years numerous aerobatic championships, created a series of breath taking aerobatic maneuvers ( one of which is the Kairys Wheel ) and also helped develop the famous Russian aerobatic Sukhois: Su-26,29 and 31. He also developed his own aerobatic aircraft he JuKa, a very impressive little plane. He took his plane against a really fast truck in a drag race. You can probably guess who the winner was…

No reaction

A Russian Sukhoi Su-27 pilot tries to do a Split-S maneuver that ends in tragedy. He virtually plows the crowd with his jet, as people run scared in all directions. What is amazing is not the crash itself, or even the great fireball. Check out the soldier that calmly watches the scenes unfold and he has absolutely no reaction. Shock and Awe!
